PI Planning as a Service

PIPaaS is the effective delivery of your Big-Room Plannings.

PI Plannings are the bottleneck of agile planning

In PI Planning, the planning scope of all teams for the next Planning Increment is defined. This means that significant business decisions are made during PI Planning. A Planning Increment usually lasts around 3 months and spans several sprints of 2–4 weeks each.

The chance to reach everyone

In most organizations everyone travels to the PI Planning — anyone who can’t be on-site joins remotely, whenever the presence of all is required. PI Plannings usually take place every 12 weeks, often quarterly. This rare opportunity to bring everyone to one table should be used to the fullest.

Process

Your path to the perfect PI Planning

Here’s how we work together — in four phases.

Onboarding & goal definition

Clarifying the basics: stakeholders, teams and team sizes, location and travel readiness, further planning context.

Preparation

Setting the basics, travel and location concept (who travels where, workshop location), catering and accommodation — hotels and catering.

Facilitation

Facilitating the central events: introduction to PI Planning, opening and organization, sorting stakeholders/business owners/teams, giving planning context, management review. Optional: team-building activity.

Wrap-up

Q&A, feedback and lessons learned, next steps.

Maturity

PI Planning maturity — your value at each level

Six levels on the path to the perfect PI Planning. Where are you — and what comes next?

1

Doing an agile transformation at all

Better predictability

2

Transformation to a scaled framework

Cross-team planning

3

Holding a PI Planning at all

Kick-off for scaled agility

4

PI Planning on-site

Better exchange / team building

5

Efficient planning & facilitation

Relief for the RTE, more efficient PIP, lower travel costs

6

Combination with company events

Synergies and cost reduction

Levels 1–2 — Agile transformation

This is usually where you pass through during the transformation — I’m happy to help here as an Agile Coach (→ Agile Coaching).

Levels 3–6 — PIPaaS

This is my home turf — here I take over for you: PIPaaS.

Service 02

Agile Coaching

Not every organization has arrived at PI Planning yet — and not every challenge is solved with a single event. As an Agile Coach I support you on the way there: in your transformation, in the team and in leadership.

Agile transformation

Shaping the move into agile ways of working and scaled frameworks — from the first steps to your first real big-room planning.

Team & role coaching

Coaching for teams and for the key roles — Scrum Masters, Product Owners and RTEs — so agile collaboration really holds up day to day.

Leadership coaching

Authentic connection within the team and a fresh perspective on leadership — coaching for leaders who want to shape their role consciously.

About me

About me

I’m Tina Thieme — Agile Coach and Scrum Master based in Dortmund. On top of that comes public-sector experience: as a benefits caseworker under SGB II, I processed citizen’s-allowance applications and supported protection cases with particular attention to data protection.
